LEARN
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
This year, parents are encouraged to work with their
children in learning and memorizing the Ten Commandments.
Fr.
Gary has issued a challenge and a request that the children of
our School and Religious Education Program learn and memorize
the traditional Ten Commandments.He
hopes that parents will cooperate in this project through
their own learning of the Commandments and reviewing with
their children these foundational norms for living the
Catholic Christian life.
1. I
am the Lord your God; you shall not have other gods besides
Me.
2. Do
not take the name of the Lord, your God, in vain.
3. Remember
to keep holy the Sabbath day,
4. Honor
your father and your mother.
5. You
shall not kill.
6. You
shall not commit adultery.
7. Your
shall not steal.
8. You
shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
9. You
shall not covet your neighbor’s wife.
10. You
shall not covet your neighbor’s goods.
In
the weeks to come brief elucidations of the Commandments will
appear, or little quizzes to assist in reinforcing the
learning process. Spending some time together as a family
working on this can be a good Lenten approach toward
discussion of our faith and religion. To say “Good Luck”
in this project would seem natural, but it also could be a
violation of which commandment?
